Out From A Pale Blue Dot

Picture
Let there Be Light!  -  The most powerful words ever spoken.

In 1990 NASA space probe, Voyager 1 was in deep space. Programmed to peer back at its launching pad from nearly 4 billion miles away, the Voyager  snapped a breathtaking photograph. "The Pale Blue Dot" shows Earth as a tiny dot against the vastness of space. (It is located about halfway down the brownish ray on the right.)

Considering this Pale Blue Dot we call home, atheist Carl Sagan wrote, "From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of any particular interest. But for us, it's different. Look again at that dot. That's here, that's home, that's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives… "  He cites a long list of human atrocities and concludes: "There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world."

It is true that seeing Earth suspended in the vastness of space is humbling and leaves little room for conceit. However, Sagan missed the point and developed a sad cosmic nihilism in which there is no transcendent meaning, purpose, hope or eternal future. Carl Sagan was partially right; but completely wrong. He failed to take note of this all important detail:  the Earth is suspended in light.

"Let There Be Light".  With these words, God created the visible world ex nihilo - out of nothing.

The Apostle John introduces Jesus Christ: "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness…" (John 1:4-5)

Paul brings joyful news to us: "For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (2 Corinthians 4:6

Earth is important, not only to us but also to it's Creator, the Lord God Almighty! The long-term mission of LET THERE BE LIGHT  is to share the light of God from a variety of authors, viewpoints and venues: seminars, blogs, books, etc.  God created the light. He sent the true light into this world to redeem it. He shined the light into our hearts. Now the Light lives in you and me.  Light has come to His people that it might radiate out from the Pale Blue Dot to the rest of the cosmos!

Let's live to share the Light!

Welcome to
  LET THERE BE LIGHT MINISTRIES.

And God said, Let there be light,
and there was light
(Genesis 1:3).

I have always been awed by the seminal power of these words as well as inspired by their connection to the Good News. Paul captured this beautifully in 2 Corinthians 4:6

I love the power of God's Word to enlighten and transform. Although Kaleidoscope (the [almost] daily blog) is the genesis of the website and launching pad for the ministry, we hope to develop other means for sharing the true Light that "gives light to every man that comes into the world" (John 1: 9).

Please pray for us that our endeavors will bring light where it is needed.

God bless you today. May your spirit live in the light of His Spirit!
